Stillmotion: Images from the Ol’ Paramount Theater

Old film stills, just a few millimeters in size have been transformed into oversized scrolls offering a porthole into the images of yesteryear. These snippets of film were salvaged from the projection room of the Paramount Theater, long after they once stood in splendor in the heart of Newark. The images capture odd glimpses of the Theater’s former glory. Amateur talent night from the 60’s, the action of 70’s kung fu, and scenes from the original movie The Fly have been frozen in time, enlarged, and suspended above the viewer in Natalie Giugni’s installation entitled, Stillmotion: Images from the Ol' Paramount Theatre.
